MHRSB Gives Thanks & Celebrates CSU Expansion
Thanking Board Members and Their Employers
The Mental Health & Recovery Services Board (MHRSB) of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties held an exciting ceremony at November's monthly Board meeting. We made every board member's employer a We Care Hero and presented them with a plaque to honor their support! Board members accepted the award on behalf of their employers. The MHRSB also thanked our board members for their service.
Each of Ohio's 50 county-based behavioral health authorities are advised by a board made up of of clinicians, mental health and addiction treatment consumers, and family members of consumers. Board members are unpaid volunteers who serve our communities. They help manage community funds that go to serving those with mental health and substance use disorders. These passionate individuals are crucial to meeting the unique needs of each community by helping direct those dollars.
Our board members could not effectively serve without their employers' empowering their service.
Members attend monthly board meetings and annual board member training and also serve on subcommittees with even more time requirements. These businesses and organizations allow their employees to take time off work to be active board members. They have made mental health and recovery a priority in our communities.
Along with providing their employees with the time to serve on the Board, many of these local businesses and organizations have increased their partnership with the MHRSB, which has led to even more advocacy in our communities.

Crisis Center Groundbreaking Ceremony
The MHRSB recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the We Care Regional Crisis Center expansion. This project will add short-term supportive housing for adults facing mental health and substance use challenges. The Crisis Stabilization Addition and Renovation is a critical step toward meeting the needs of our community.
During the ceremony, we were honored to hear from community leaders and partners who helped make this project possible. Speakers included Tammie Colon, Executive Director of the MHRSB; Mayor Sharetta Smith of Lima; Margaret Osborne, Northwest Regional Liaison from the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services; Hattie Tracy, President and CEO of Coleman Health Services; and Dan Faraglia, Crisis Infrastructure Specialist with the MHRSB. Their words underscored the importance of this project in transforming lives.
The expanded facility will offer vital services, including medication monitoring, crisis de-escalation, wellness planning, and help with daily living. These services will provide stability for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness or substance use challenges while experiencing homelessness or housing instability. The project is expected to be completed in October 2025.
We are grateful to the community leaders and partners who helped make this expansion possible. Together, we are ensuring that individuals in crisis have a safe space to recover and reconnect with their communities.
