Workforce Development Highlight
Through its workforce development plan, the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board has been working with a consultant to assist behavioral health workers in our three counties with navigating student loan forgiveness via Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
Often, staff do not understand PSLF or feel they won’t qualify. So, they do not look into the qualifications or know what steps to take. Tracking loan payments and applying for loan forgiveness can be a tedious process that staff cannot navigate independently.
The MHRSB is pleased to announce that the following behavioral health heroes have successfully been granted loan forgiveness:
Jeannette Lotzer of Coleman Health Services - $103,000 in loans forgiven
Judy Lester of SAFY - $45,000 in loans forgiven
Brook Sites of Lighthouse Behavioral Health Solutions - $141,000 in loans forgiven
Jamie Declercq of Lighthouse Behavioral Health Solutions - $24,000 in loans forgiven
Cindy Tordiff of Coleman Health Services - $67,000 in loans forgiven
Tammie Colon of the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board – $12,000 in loans forgiven
Margaret Lawrence of Coleman Health Services – $185,000 in loans forgiven
Angela Wyandt of Coleman Health Services - $182,000 in loans forgiven
Melanie Woods of Mercy Health, St. Rita’s - $200,000 in loans forgiven
We are thrilled to announce that $959,000 of debt has been forgiven so far. Congratulations to these behavioral health heroes. We cannot wait to see more debt forgiven in the coming years!
